January 30 (SeeNews) - Flag carrier Montenegro Airlines (MA) plans to start operating Podgorica-Tehran charter flights, commercial director Zoran Radunovic said.
MA has signed a cooperation agreement with Iranian ticket sales agency VSP Kish to launch the charter line, as flights are expected to be carried out once a week, MA's magazine Inflight Luxury quoted Radunovic as saying in its winter edition.
The company will work seriously on the promotion of its services in Iran in order to increase the frequency of the line and possibly make it regular in the future, Radunovic added.
MA will focus on expanding to new markets and destinations and considers that the charter segment should be significantly improved, economically-developed regions as the German-speaking countries, Scandinavia, Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and CIS offer excellent opportunities, Radunovic pointed out.
The state-run flag carrier handled 480,510 passengers in the first nine months of 2016, up 1.5% on the year. Earlier this month, Montenegrin transport minister Osman Nurkovic said the country's government aims to sell a 50% stake in MA minus one share.
