July 5 (SeeNews) - Montenegro Airlines handled 262,954 passengers in the first half of 2019, up 4.9% on the year, the flag carrier said.
In June alone, the company handled a total of 77,348 passengers, up by 5% on the year, according to a statement posted on the website of Montenegro Airlines on Wednesday.
"The latest data show that in the second quarter of this year Montenegro Airlines continued a positive and successful trend of economic growth. The fact is that we managed to carry more passengers than last year, which set a record-high. This will have a positive impact on revenue and business results, but there are still a number of aggravating circumstances that relate primarily to the high cost of air fuel, and then to the extremely high cost of repair and rental of replacement engines for Embraer aircraft," the flag carrier's executive director Zivko Banjevic said.
Montenegro Airlines narrowed its loss to 1.97 million euro ($2.22 million) in 2018, as the number of its passengers rose to a record-high 645,000, Banjevic said in April.
