PODGORICA (Montenegro), April 17 (SeeNews) – Montenegro's government said it aims to intensify its cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in the areas of tourism, energy and infrastructure.
The government is focused on stimulating economic growth, opening of new jobs and increasing the standard of living of citizens, prime minister Dusko Markovic said on Tuesday during a meeting in Podgorica with the president of the EBRD, Suma Chakrabarti, according to a government statement.
Montenegro is the country where the EBRD invests the most in terms of financing per capita, Chakrabarti said at the meeting. "And we have a good reason for this - here we have good conditions for investing."
Markovic and Chakrabarti agreed that it is important for Montenegro to continue with structural reforms, reduce the share of grey economy, strengthen competitiveness and improve the business environment.
To date, the EBRD has supported 58 projects in Montenegro with 569 million euro ($644 million).
