December 14 (SeeNews) - Transdniestria's November monthly inflation accelerated to 1.97% from 1.0% in October, the economy ministry of Moldova's breakaway region said on Monday.
Food prices grew by 2.58% month-on-month, while non-food prices posted a 0.84% gain in October, the ministry said in a statement. Services prices rose by 2.51% last month, it added.
The region's end-year inflation slowed to 25.11% in 2008 from 29.42% in 2007.
The region, with a population of 700,000, considers itself an independent state. Moldova has offered it broad autonomy but Transdniestria, led by President Igor Smirnov, is seeking full independence.
