September 15 (SeeNews) - Moldova's trade deficit rose by 7.3% on the year in the first seven months of 2023, reaching $2.664 billion (2.481 billion euro), the statistical office said on Friday.
The country's exports fell 10.8% year-on-year in the seven months through July, while imports decreased by 2%.
The European Union absorbed 62.3% of Moldova's exports between January and July and accounted for 48.9% of the country's imports.
In July alone, exports decreased by an annual 10.1% to $304.2 million, while imports fell by 16% to $639.1 million, resulting in a trade deficit of $334.9 million, down 20.8% year-on-year.
