August 18 (SeeNews) - Moldova's trade deficit rose by 13.1% on the year in the first six months of 2023, reaching $2.329 billion (1.763 billion euro), the statistical office said.
The country's exports fell 10.9% year-on-year in the first half of 2023, while imports inched up by 0.5%, the statistical office said in a statement on Thursday.
The European Union absorbed 61.3% of Moldova's exports between January and June and accounted for 48.3% of the country's imports.
In June alone, exports fell by an annual 24% to $316.6 million, while imports decreased by 6.2% to $665.2 million, resulting in a trade deficit of $348.6 million, down 1% year-on-year.
