July 7 (SeeNews) - Moldova's trade deficit widened 18% year-on-year to $935.5 million (819.2 million euro) in the first five months of the year, the country's statistical bureau, BNS, said on Friday.
Moldova's exports rose 15% on the year to $857.2 million in the January-May period, while imports totalled $1.79 billion, up 16%.
In May alone, Moldova's exports rose 14% on the year to $174.8 million, whereas imports rose 22% to $400.5 million.
In 2016, Moldova's trade deficit narrowed 2.2% on the year to $1.97 billion.
