October 6 (SeeNews) - Moldova's trade deficit increased by 22.1% year-on-year to $1.58 billion (1.34 billion euro) in the first eight months of 2017, the country's statistical bureau, BNS, said on Friday.
Moldova's exports rose 15.2% on the year to $1.42 billion in the January-August period, while imports totalled $3 billion, up 18.7%.
In August alone, Moldova's exports rose 8% on the year to $221.7 million, whereas imports increased 22.4% to $429.7 million.
Moldova's trade deficit decreased 2.2% to $1.97 billion last year.
