June 15 (SeeNews) - Moldova's trade deficit widened by 19% on the year to 1.609 billion dollars (1.489 billion euro) in the first four months of 2023, the country's statistics bureau said on Thursday.
Moldova's exports fell 4.8% on the year, while imports increased by 6.7% in the January-April period, the statistics office said in a statement.
The European Union absorbed 62% of Moldova's exports between January and April and accounted for 48% of the country's total imports.
In April alone, exports fell by an annual 20% to 316.9 million dollars, while imports decreased by 10.4% to 690.5 million dollars. The trade deficit in April inched down by 0.1% year-on-year, to $373.6 million.
