June 6 (SeeNews) - Moldovan airline HiSky said on Tuesday that it plans to start operating scheduled and charter flights to the United States by the end of summer.
The air carrier has completed the first step towards obtaining a permit for foreign air transport operator issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation, HiSky said in a press release.
"We are very close to reaching this new target in our development, after the first million passengers, the first new A321 aircraft registered in Romania, obtaining the status of main charter operator and no less than 22 successfully operated routes, from Romania and Moldova," said Iulian Scorpan, CEO of HiSky.
"If everything goes as we expect, by the end of summer we will already open the first routes to the U.S.," the CEO added.
Last month, HiSky announced the launch of a new route, from the Henri Coanda International Airport in Bucharest to Barcelona’s El Prat Airport.
HiSky was established in 2020 and and operates international flights from Moldova's capital Chisinau and the Romanian cities of Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi and Baia Mare.
