May 9 (SeeNews) - Moldovan airline HiSky started operating flights to Romanian cities of Timisoara and Cluj and to Israel's Tel Aviv from its new hub at Bucharest’s Otopeni Airport, the company announced on Monday.
During the summer, HiSky will operate several charter flights to exotic destinations, in partnership with Romanian tour operators, it said in a press release.
"With the opening of domestic routes, from Bucharest to the two main cities, we are beginning to outline one of HiSky's development strategies, business traffic for the Romanian market," HiSky Europe commercial director Marea Caravan said.
The announcement comes after HiSky’s gradual development of its fleet, through leasing contracts for aircrafts with US-based Air Lease Corporation. The airline also announced in February 2021 the inauguration of a base in Cluj-Napoca, with flight routes including Dublin and Lisbon.
HiSky is a Moldovan airline startup founded in 2020, by a team of entrepreneurs in partnership with Romanian charter airline Cobrex Trans. It currently operates a fleet of five Airbus A320 aircraft.
The company is staffed by over 200 employees, half of whom are flight crew.
