December 16 (SeeNews) - Moldova's economy expanded by 4.3% year-on-year in real terms in the third quarter of 2019, with wholesale and retail the main growth drivers, the country's statistical office said on Monday.
Calculated at current prices, Moldova's gross domestic product (GDP) totalled 64.32 billion lei ($3.7 billion/3.3 billion euro) in the third quarter, the statistical office said in a statement.
Quarter-on-quarter, Moldova's GDP rose 1.1% based on seasonally adjusted data.
The gross value added in the economy rose by 4.7% on the year, mainly boosted by retail activities.
Final household consumption in Moldova increased by 4.1% year-on-year in the third quarter. Gross fixed-capital formation grew 2.3%.
Exports rose by an annual 2.5%, while imports increased 4.6% in the third quarter.
During January-September 2019, Moldova's economy grew by a real 4.8% year-on-year.
Moldova's economy expanded by 4.0% in real terms in 2018, mainly on the back of successful performance of wholesale and retail.
In November, Moldova's government said it has approved the 2020 draft budget based on projections of 3.8% economic growth and cash deficit equivalent to 3.25% of GDP.
