June 8 (SeeNews) - The foreign exchange reserves held by Moldova's central bank totalled $4.868 billion (4.543 billion euro) as of May 31, rising by $15.45 million from the end of April, it said.
Foreign exchange inflows totalled $142.34 million as of May 31, the central bank, BNM, said in a monthly report on Wednesday.
The inflows mainly consisted of a new loan tranche of $43.57 million disbursed by the European Commission, and foreign currency purchases on the domestic market in the amount of $29 million.
Foreign exchange outflows totalled $126.89 million in May, representing mainly external debt payments of $64.02 million and depreciation of foreign currency reserves in relation to the U.S. dollar, amounting to $43.81 million.
The gold reserves held by BNM were worth $4.66 million at the end of May, down from $4.76 million at end-March.
