June 11 (SeeNews) - The foreign exchange reserves held by Moldova's central bank, BNM, decreased by $13.72 million net in May, reaching $2.891 billion (2.557 billion euro), BNM said.
Foreign exchange inflows totalled $20.96 million in May, BNM said in a monthly report.
Those inflows represented mainly net inflows related to the required foreign currency reserves of licensed banks worth $9.34 million as well as credits and grants in favour of the finance ministry for investment projects worth $5.78 million;
Foreign exchange outflows totalled $34.7 million in May, representing mainly net interventions in the domestic foreign exchange market in the form of foreign currency sales worth $14 million and payments to the finance ministry of $7.54 million.
The gold reserves held by BNM were worth $3.059 million at the end of May, higher than $3.036 million at end-April.
