September 20 (SeeNews) - The value of deposits with Moldovan banks rose 8.1% on the year in August, reaching 52.47 billion lei ($2.7 billion/2.3 billion euro) and accelerating from a 3.8% gain in July, the country's central bank, BNM, said on Tuesday.
Leu deposits rose by an annual 21.3% to 28.13 billion lei in August, speeding up from an 15.9% increase in the previous month, BNM said in a monthly monetary statistics report.
Foreign currency deposits dropped 4.0% in August following a 7.4% drop in July, and reached 24.34 billion lei.
