December 22 (SeeNews) - The after-tax profit of Moldovan banks rose 8.2% on the year to 1.65 billion lei ($96.5 million/81.3 million euro) in the eleven months through November, data from the country's central bank, BNM, showed on Friday.
Eleven commercial banks operated in the country of 3.5 million people as at end-November. None of them reported loss as at end-November, while the top five accounted for 86% of the total profit of Moldova's banking sector.
Moldovan banks' assets increased to 78.89 billion lei at end-November from 72.87 billion lei in the year-ago period, according to BNM data.
