April 20 (SeeNews) - Moldovan banks' combined after-tax profit fell 12% on the year to 499.7 million lei ($26 million/24.3 million euro) in the first three months of 2017, data from the country's central bank, BNM, showed on Thursday.
Eleven commercial banks operated in the country of 3.5 million people as at end-March. None of them reported losses as at end-March, while the top five accounted for 76% of the total profit of Moldova's banking sector.
Moldovan banks' assets increased to 74.04 billion lei at end-March, from 72.9 billion lei at end-2016, according to BNM data.
