August 22 (SeeNews) - The after-tax profit of Moldovan banks rose 9% on the year to 1.12 billion lei ($63 million/53 million euro) in the first seven months of 2017, data from the country's central bank, BNM, showed on Tuesday.
Eleven commercial banks operated in the country of 3.5 million people as at end-July. None of them reported loss as at end-July, while the top five accounted for 93% of the total profit of Moldova's banking sector.
Moldovan banks' assets increased to 76.56 billion lei at end-July from 72.9 billion lei at end-2016, according to BNM data.
