May 14 (SeeNews) - The Moldovan government is considering the issuance of Eurobonds this year in order to finance infrastructure projects, prime minister Ion Chicu said.
"The objective of issuing Eurobonds is to modernize and industrialize the country. We need resources to accelerate the process of increasing the standard of living and to create stable and well-paid jobs in the country's regions," Chicu said in a press release on Wednesday.
Among investment priorities are the construction and rehabilitation of roads, sewerage and irrigation systems, public transport and social infrastructure projects.
The finance ministry is in contact with rating agencies in order to clarify conditions for issuing Eurobonds. The paths in the placement of Eurobonds followed by Armenia and Serbia have been examined and solutions found by these countries in contracting consulting companies and project preparation are being taken as an example, Chicu said.
