September 16 (SeeNews) - Finland's Metso Outotec said it won an order from Aurubis Bulgaria, a unit of Hamburg-based copper producer Aurubis, for the delivery of an anode casting shop to Aurubis' copper plant in the Bulgarian town of Pirdop.
Metso Outotec also received an order for its Outotec Anode Casting Shop from China's Yangxin Hongsheng Copper Co. which is building a greenfield copper smelter in Huangshi, Hubei province, the Finnish company said in a statement on Tuesday.
The manufacturer did not specify the price of the orders but said that typically, the combined value for two shops of this type would be close to 10 million euro ($11.9 million).
Both shops are expected to be commissioned next year, Metso Outotec said.
The anode casting shops will feature two casting wheels for high capacity and yield and will be equipped with advanced automation to ensure high availability and high casting accuracy to produce high quality anodes, Jari Algars, president of metals business area at Metso Outotec said in the statement.
Last year, Aurubis Bulgaria told SeeNews that its 132 million euro, four-year investment programme launched in 2018 is running according to plan. It aims to improve efficiency, cut costs and faciltiate maintenance at the Pirdop plant located 80 kilometres east of Sofia.
Helsinki-headquartered Metso Outotec is a global leader in anode casting technology, used to produce a significant part of the world’s copper anodes. The company has delivered over 90 anode casting shops around the world to date, and its offering features all the technology and expertise required for the end-to-end copper production process and its lifetime servicing, it said.
