February 17 (SeeNews) - Medicover Romania, part of Swedish medical services provider Medicover Group, said on Monday that its revenues in Romania rose by 27% year-on-year in 2019, reaching 119.1 million euro ($129.1 million).
Healthcare services revenues in Romania rose by 45% on the year to 59.6 million euro in 2019, boosted by new acquisitions made in 2018, Medicover Romania said in a press release.
During 2018, Medicover acquired Pelican Hospital in Oradea, the Phoenix Medical Center in the Oltenia area and the Academica Medical Center in Bucharest - investments that also supported last year's growth.
Diagnostic services revenue in Romania rose by an annual 13% to 59.5 million euro last year, driven by the expansion of the network’s national presence.
Last year, Medicover opened a new clinic in the capital Bucharest and a new laboratory in the eastern city of Bacau following total investments of 2 million euro.
"Last year we started one of the most important expansion projects by creating a new annex with 100 beds at Pelican Hospital - the largest investment allocated for the expansion of an existing facility, of 8.1 million euro. We also continued to invest in digitalization, creating centers of excellence with multidisciplinary teams for treating complex conditions and attracting the best doctors," Medicover Romania managing director Radu L. Gorduza said.
Romania is the third largest market for the Swedish group, after Poland and Germany. It contributed 14% of the group's revenues during 2019.
Medicover is present in Romania since 1996 through the Medicover network of hospitals and clinics and the Synevo laboratories and collection centers.
The Swedish group, an international provider of medical and diagnostic services founded in 1995, is listed on the Swedish Stock Exchange - Nasdaq Stockholm.
At end-2019, Medicover operated 36 clinics, two hospitals and 123 laboratories in Romania.
