December 2 (SeeNews) - Fast food chain McDonald's opened a new restaurant in Braila, in eastern Romania, following a 3 million lei ($686,687/606,183 euro) investment, its licence holder in Romania and five other EU markets, Premier Capital, said on Thursday.
Located in Braila mall, the new restaurant is the company's second in Braila, Premier Capital said in a press release.
The unit has four self-ordering kiosks.
"With this new opening, we are one step closer to meeting our expansion goals set for this year. I am glad that we have returned to Braila with a new restaurant, in addition to the Drive -Thru unit inaugurated in 2018 and that we are bringing those who transit the shopping center during this period an extra reason to rejoice. Moreover, each new restaurant means new professional opportunities for the local community," Premier Restaurants Romania general manager Paul Dragan said.
The new unit takes the total number of McDonald's restaurants in the country to 91 in 27 cities.
In November, McDonald's opened a new 9.5 million lei Drive-Thru restaurant in Bucharest.
McDonald's entered the Romanian market in 1994 and currently employs over 5,000 in the country.
In 2016, McDonalds sold its restaurants and coffee-shops in Romania to Premier Capital.
