November 20 (SeeNews) - International hotel operator Marriott plans to start operating its luxury hotel brand St. Regis in Serbia's capital Belgrade in 2020, a senior company official said.
The company expects to welcome the first guest of its St. Regis residential complex, part of the Belgrade Waterfront project, in 2020, the Chief Operations Officer (COO) Europe, Luxury & Southern Europe, Satya Anand, said in a video file posted on the website of Serbian news agency Tanjug on Saturday.
The complex will offer 222 residences and 120 hotel rooms and will represent the first true luxury development within Belgrade, creating the needed atmosphere for wealthy travellers to come and stay in Serbia's capital, Anand said.
St. Regis will be situated in a 40-storey tower Kula Belgrade, part of Belgrade Waterfront, and will feature a spa, swimming pool, a gym and an event and meeting space for special celebrations.
The Belgrade Waterfront project should see the development of around 177 ha of land on the right bank of the Sava river into a mixed-use residential, office and retail area, offering 5,700 housing units, 2,200 hotel rooms and capacity to accommodate 12,700 office workers.
