June 26 (SeeNews) - The majority of Romanian and Bulgarian citizens tend to trust the European Union, the European Commission' Eurobarometer survey indicated.
Some 57% of Romanians and 54% of Bulgarians have faith in the EU as the results increased by 5 percentage points in both countries compared to the previous survey, according to the Eurobarometer survey.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe (SEE), Croatian and Slovenian citizens have also increased their trust in the EU - by 4% and 5% to 47% and 42%, respectively.
The Eurobarometer survey is prepared on the basis of approximately 1,000 face-to-face interviews per country. Reports are published twice yearly.
Bulgarians were the EU's second-most optimistic nation about the bloc's future with 13% of respondents being 'very optimistic'. Croatia and Romania followed with 10%.
Among citizens of SEE countries, Croatians were the most pessimistic about their country's current economic situation with 88% of them providing negative answers. Bulgaria followed with 80% while Slovenia and Romania reported 69% and 64% negative answers, respectively.
