October 8 (SeeNews) - Canadian car parts maker Magna International said on Tuesday it officially opened a factory for exteriors, mirrors and closures in Kartepe district in the northwestern Turkish province of Kocaeli.
The facility, which is the company's second plant in Turkey, will primarily produce fascias and outside mirrors for the new Ford Transit car model but will also manufacture carriers for front-end modules, running boards and engineered glass products, Magna International said in a statement.
At full capacity, the factory will employ some 200 people.
"Consistent with our strategy to pursue growth in developing markets, this new facility opens the door for our exteriors and mirrors business in Turkey," Magna International Europe president Gunther Apfalter said in the statement.
Magna opened in 2003 a just-in-sequence complete seat facility in the Golcuk district of Kocaeli province.
