September 12 (SeeNews) - The number of tourists in Macedonia rose by 8.5% on the year to 460,387 for the first seven months, data from the country's statistics office showed on Monday.
The number of overnights spent by tourists in January-July increased 5.3% on the year to 1.2 million, according to data published on the website of the statistics office.
Domestic tourists numbered 171,094, up 8.6% from the seven-month period of 2015, whereas foreign tourists increased by 8.5% to 289,293.
In July alone, the number of tourists in Macedonia rose 8.3% on the year to 129,656, while the number of nights spent by tourists ticked down 1.2% to 526,693.
The number of domestic tourists in July rose by 5.9% year-on-year, and the number of foreign tourists added 10.7%.
Out of the total number of foreign tourists in July, 25.3% came from Turkey, followed by Serbia with an 11.6% share, and the Netherlands with 6.7%.
