September 12 (SeeNews) - The number of tourists staying in Macedonia increased by an annual 14.2% to 525,716 in the first seven months of 2017, the country's statistical office said on Tuesday.
The number of domestic tourists rose 8.3% year-on-year to 185,367 in the period January-July, whereas the number of international visitors increased 17.6% to 340,349, the statistical office said in a statement.
The number of overnights spent by tourists in Macedonia in the review period increased 11.8% year-on-year, reaching 1.38 million.
In July alone, the total number of tourists in Macedonia rose 18.3% year-on-year to 153,435, with 88,681 of them being foreign tourists.
Out of the total number of foreign tourists who visited Macedonia in July, 28.7% came from Turkey. Serbia followed with 10%, Poland came in third with 6%, and the Netherlands was fourth with 5.9%.
