July 12 (SeeNews) - The number of tourists staying in Macedonia in May rose by 1.6% on the year to 56,094 after increasing by an annual 2.8% a month earlier, the Statistics Office said on Tuesday.
Tourist overnights fell by 1.5% on the year to 129,420 in May, with foreign nationals accounting for 71,097 of the total, the statistics office said in a statement.
A total of 180,458 tourists visited Macedonia in the first five months of 2011, up by 6.4% on the year. Overnights increased by an annual 2.9% to 406,906 over the same period.
