June 22 (SeeNews) - Macedonia's gross electricity production edged up 0.4% year-on-year to 391,804 MWh in April, the national statistical office said on Thursday.
Net power output added 1% on the year to 364,994 MWh in April, while final electricity consumption increased 6.5% to 506,591 MWh.
Thermal power plants contributed the largest portion of gross domestic electricity production on April, or 273,907 MWh, up 6.6% on the year. Hydropower plants followed with 100,448 MWh, down 17.8% on the year.
Electricity generated by wind parks totalled 10,963 MWh, jumping 85% compared to April 2016, biogas plants had a 62.5% higher output, or 4,085 MWh, whereas solar plants produced 19.5% less electricity, or 2,400 MWh.
Macedonia imported 209,230 MWh in April and exported no electricity. In April 2016, the country imported 185,315 MWh.
Distribution losses dropped 4.3% to 59,647 MWh in April.
Domestic production covered 65.2% of the country's electricity needs.
