May 25 (SeeNews) - Macedonia's gross electricity production fell 11% year-on-year to 433,920 MWh in March, the statistical office said on Thursday.
Net power output declined 12% on the year in March to 403,198 MWh, while final electricity consumption edged up 0.5% to 547,649 MWh.
Thermal power plants contributed the largest portion of March's gross domestic electricity production, or 323,944 MWh, up 19% on the year. Hydropower plants followed with 83,738 MWh, plunging 58.6% on the year.
Electricity generated by wind parks totalled 10,772 MWh, up 36% compared to March 2016, whereas solar plants produced 9.2% more electricity, or 2,060 MWh.
Combined heat and power plants and auto production thermal power stations produced 9,191 MWh in March 2017. They did not produced any energy in the like month of 2016.
Macedonia imported 232,259 MWh in March, and exported 1,738 MWh. In March 2016, the country imported 186,974 and did not exported any energy.
Distribution losses dropped 10.5% to 76,150MWh.
Domestic production covered 65% of the country's needs.
