July 12 (SeeNews) - The number of tourists staying in Macedonia in the first five months of 2012 rose by 5.8% on the year to nearly 191,000, the country's statistics office said on Thursday.
Tourist overnights increased by an annual 2.9% to some 418,500 through May, with foreign nationals accounting for almost 229,000 of the total, the statistics office said.
In May alone, a total of 60,775 tourists visited Macedonia, up by 8.3% on the year, while overnights went up by an annual 10.4% to 142,912.
