SKOPJE (Macedonia), December 12 (SeeNews) – The number of tourists staying in Macedonia rose by 13.1% year-on-year in the first ten months of 2018, reaching 1,013,431, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
The number of domestic tourists rose 14.1% year-on-year to 378,287 in the January-October period, whereas the number of international visitors increased 12.5% to 635,144, Makstat said in a statement.
The number of overnights spent by tourists in Macedonia in the review period grew 14.9% to 2,936,514. Tourist overnights spent by Macedonian citizens rose 14.2% to 1,585,114, while foreign tourists spent 1,351,400 overnights, up 15.8%.
In October alone, the number of tourists increased 7.1% on the year to 83,303, while tourist overnights grew 10.1% to 182,557.
Of the total number of foreign tourists who visited Macedonia in October, 10.1% came from Turkey, 6.9% from Greece and 6.6% from Serbia.
