SKOPJE (Macedonia), September 23 (SeeNews) – Tourist overnights spent in the Macedonian lakeside resort of Dojran during the summer season rose by 22.6% on the year to 141,000, the Macedonian Economic Chamber said on Thursday.
Tourism revenues in the resort exceeded 1.5 million euro ($2.0 million) this summer, the Economic Chamber said in a statement quoting the city’s mayor Gligor Cabulev.
“The results are satisfactory considering that the summer season started on July 15 and lasted until the end of August,” the Economic Chamber said in the statement.
In July, a total of 45,000 overnights were spent in the Dorjan town whilst in August the number of overnights totalled 96,000, said the statement citing data from Dojran’s Tourist Information Bureau.
The resort is located on the western shore of Dojran Lake in the southeastern part of Macedonia.
