SKOPJE (Macedonia), January 12 (SeeNews) – Macedonian insurance companies posted combined gross written premiums of 5.85 billion denars ($112 million/95.1 million euro) in the first nine months of 2014, up from 5.52 billion denars a year earlier, the country’s Insurance Supervision Agency said.
Non-life insurance premiums totalled 5.28 billion denars in the nine months through September 2014, up 4.5% on the year, data of the Insurance Supervision Agency’s nine-month report indicated.
The life insurance segment accounted for the remainder with combined gross written premiums of 568.6 million denars, up from 466.6 million denars in the same period of 2013.
Sixteen insurance companies operate in Macedonia, including five active in the life insurance segment.
Macedonia has a population of around 2.0 million.
