August 22 (SeeNews) - Macedonia's government has submitted with the country's parliament a revised budget draft, raising planned expenditures by 2.24 billion denars ($41.2 million/36.4 million euro) to cover damages caused by recent devastating floods, the draft document showed.
The move comes less than a month after parliament passed a budget revision, raising the planned budget gap.
The second budget revision envisages increasing expenditures to 197.4 billion denars from 195.5 billion denars, while keeping revenues unchanged at 174.3 billion denars, the draft published on the parliament's website over the weekend showed.
If parliament adopts the proposed budget revision, planned deficit will expand to 23.1 billion denars, or 4% of the country's GDP, from 21.2 billion denars.
Less than a month ago, Macedonia's parliament revised the budget, cutting revenues to 174.3 billion from 177.3 billion denars and bringing down expenditures to 195.5 billion denars from 196.3 billion denars, expanding planned deficit to 21.2 billion denars from 18.98 billion denars.
A flash rainstorm hit the the capital Skopje and the towns of Gostivar and Tetovo, in the west of the country, two weeks ago, with 33 litres per sq m pouring down in just two and a half hours. The devastating storm killed 22 people and caused immense material damages.
