February 9 (SeeNews) - Macedonia's transport ministry said it provided 71.5 million euro ($87.6 million) in financing for the construction of a section of the Kriva Palanka-Deve Bair section of the railway line linking the country's capital Skopje to the Bulgarian border.
The ministry allocated 127.2 million euro for transport infrastructure projects, 108.1 million euro of them under the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) 2 programme of the European Union (EU) and 19.1 million euro from the state budget, the Macedonian transport ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
A total of 48.7 million euro will be invested in the construction of the Gradsko-Drenovo section and a third lane of the Plervar section of the Gradsko-Prilep trunk road, as well as the overhaul of the Kumanovo-Rankovce road, the ministry said.
Moreover, 7 million euro will be invested in the preparation of project documentation for transport infrastructure projects, the ministry added.
In August, the ministers of transport and energy of Bulgaria and Macedonia signed a memorandum of understanding for completion of the construction of a railway link between the capital cities of the two countries, Sofia and Skopje.
