SKOPJE (Macedonia), February 21 (SeeNews) – Macedonia has launched the construction of the 206 million euro ($282 million) Miladinovci-Stip motorway, the country's transport ministry said on Friday.
The construction of the 47-kilometre motorway, which will connect the capital Skopje with the eastern town of Stip, should be completed within three years, the ministry said in a statement.
The project is financed by a loan provided by China’s Ex-Im Bank, the Macedonian government said in November 2013, adding that the construction works will be conducted by China’s Sinohydro Corporation, which is obliged to hire Macedonian companies as subcontractors.
China’s Sinohydro Corporation has also signed a deal with the government for the construction of another motorway section, Kicevo-Ohrid, in Macedonia.
