October 18 (SeeNews) - Macedonian parliament speaker Trajko Veljanoski said on Tuesday he gave the green light to the political leaders' decision to hold early general elections on December 11.
The early elections are part of an EU-brokered deal, the so called Przino agreement, which aims to resolve a protracted political crisis in Macedonia. The vote has been postponed twice since the leaders of the main political parties in Macedonia signed the agreement in June 2015.
"Let me inform you that in line with my constitutional and legal duties as parliament speaker of the Republic of Macedonia, I signed the decision to hold early elections on December 11 this year," Veljanoski said in a statement posted on the parliament website.
Macedonia dissolved its parliament on Monday in preparation for the snap vote.
