July 25 (SeeNews) - Macedonia’s gross electricity production fell 4.2% on the year to 396,059 MWh in May, data from the country's statistics office showed on Monday.
Net electricity output fell 3.2% year-on-year to 375,085 MWh, while final consumption of electricity dropped 7.6% to 465,281 MWh, the data indicated.
Hydro power plants accounted for the largest part of gross domestic electricity output in May - 200,635 MWh, up 23.5% on the year, followed by thermal power plants with 181,723 MWh, down 23.8% on the year.
Macedonia's electricity production covered 72.3% of the country's needs. Imports declined to 152,000 MWh from 185,000 MWh in April. Macedonia did not export electricity in May.
Distribution losses totalled 53,316 MWh in May, up 3.3% as compared to a year earlier.
