August 25 (SeeNews) - Macedonia’s gross electricity production fell 3.6% on the year to 365,785 MWh in June, data from the country's statistics office showed on Thursday.
Net electricity output fell 1.2% year-on-year to 348,943 MWh, while final consumption of electricity dropped 7.6% to 463,220 MWh, the data indicated.
Hydro power plants accounted for the largest part of gross domestic electricity output in June - 201,861 MWh, up 78.9% on the year, followed by thermal power plants with 152,524 MWh, down 39.6% on the year.
Energy produced by solar power plants rose by 13.1% year-on year to 2,657 MWh. Wind power plants generated 6,123 MWh, down 37.3% on the year, whereas biogas plants produced 2,621 MWh, or 34.4% more than a year ago.
Macedonia's electricity production covered 68.1% of the country's needs. Imports rose to 171,641 MWh from 152,000 MWh in May. Macedonia did not export electricity in June.
Distribution losses totalled 50.971 MWh in June, up 4.8% as compared to a year earlier.
