August 14 (SeeNews) - The number of tourists in Macedonia increased by an annual 13% to 372,281 in the first six months of 2017, the country's statistical office said on Monday.
The number of domestic tourists rose 11% year-on-year to 120,613 in the January-June period, whereas the number of international visitors rose 13% to 251,668, the statistical office said in a statement.
The number of overnights spent by tourists in Macedonia in the first half of 2017 increased 12.5% year-on-year, reaching 796,357.
In June alone, the total number of tourists in Macedonia rose 18% year-on-year to 84,778, as 62,392 of them were foreign tourists.
Of the total number of foreign tourists who visited Macedonia in June, 17% came from Turkey. Serbia followed with 9.0%, while the Netherlands came in third with 7.4%.
