November 18 (SeeNews) - Switzerland-headquartered technology company Luxoft opened a development centre in Belgrade, where it aims to employ over 2,000 people by the end of 2023, the Serbian government said.
Currently, the company has more than 1,000 employees in Serbia, the government said in a press release on Friday.
The IT sector is the fastest growing in Serbia and will achieve over 2.6 billion euro ($2.7 million) in exports this year, prime minister Ana Brnabic said, as quoted in the press release.
The Serbian government will try to attract more IT companies from Russia and other countries, as well as to make Serbia an IT hub, Brnabic was quoted as saying.
Luxoft makes software solutions for the automotive, banking and telecommunications industries, and has more than 20,000 employees in 30 countries.
In March 2022, as a response to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Luxoft decided to exit the Russian market. Currently, Luxoft has ceased to provide operations to Russian clients and has no offices in that country.
