November 10 (SeeNews) - Passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport has increased 19.9% year-on-year to 1,451,518 in the first 10 months of 2017, Germany’s Fraport Group, which operates the airport in Slovenia's capital, said on Friday.
Aircraft takeoffs and landings at Ljubljana airport rose 5.1% on the year to 29,329 in January-October, while cargo traffic expanded 19.6% to 10,154 tonnes, Fraport said in a data release.
In October alone, Ljubljana airport serviced 153,641 passengers, up 16.3% on the year. Aircraft movements jumped 19.2% to 3,321 and cargo traffic climbed 55.6% to 1,449 tonnes.
In 2016, passenger numbers at Ljubljana airport fell 2.3% to 1,404,831.
In September 2014, Fraport signed a deal to acquire 75.5% of the company that operated Ljubljana airport and later increased its shareholding interest to 100%.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, the German company also operates the airports in the Bulgarian Black Sea cities of Varna and Burgas.
