December 12 (SeeNews) - Passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport has increased 20.1% year-on-year to 1,573,038 in the first 11 months of 2017, Germany’s Fraport Group, which operates the airport in Slovenia's capital, said on Tuesday.
Aircraft takeoffs and landings at Ljubljana airport rose 5.8% on the year to 32,010 in January-November, while cargo traffic expanded 19.0% to 11,206 tonnes, Fraport said in a data release.
In November alone, Ljubljana airport serviced 121,520 passengers, up 22.6% on the year. Aircraft movements jumped 13.8% to 2,680 and cargo traffic climbed 13.2% to 1,052 tonnes.
In 2016, passenger numbers at Ljubljana airport fell 2.3% to 1,404,831.
In September 2014, Fraport signed a deal to acquire a 75.5% share of the company that operated Ljubljana airport and later increased its shareholding interest to 100%.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, the German company also operates the airports in the Bulgarian Black Sea cities of Varna and Burgas.
