June 23 (SeeNews) - Passenger traffic at Slovenia's Ljubljana airport increased to 281,063 in the first five months of 2022 from only 42,058 in the like period of last year, data by airport operator Fraport Group showed.
Aircraft takeoffs and landings at Ljubljana airport went up 52.3% on the year to 7,797 in the first five months of 2022, while cargo traffic increased by 16.8% to 5,209 tonnes, according to figures published on the website of Germany's Fraport Group.
In May alone, Ljubljana airport serviced 84,886 passengers, up from 14,943 in the respective period of 2021, aircraft movements grew 45.4% to 1,860, while cargo transport went up 12% to 1,049 tonnes.
In 2021, passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport fell increased 46.4% to 421,934.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, Fraport Group operates the airports in the Bulgarian Black Sea cities of Varna and Burgas.
