LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), June 14 (SeeNews) – Passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport increased 2.5% year-on-year to 670,935 in the first five months of 2019, Germany’s Fraport Group, which operates the airport in Slovenia's capital, said on Friday.
Aircraft takeoffs and landings at Ljubljana airport fell 2.8% on the year to 13,307 in January-May, while cargo traffic fell 4.4% to 4,809 tonnes, Fraport said in a data release.
In May alone, passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport increased by 1.8% to 170,307, aircraft movements decreased 10.1% to 2,908, while cargo transport fell 5.5% to 970 tonnes.
In 2018, passenger numbers at Ljubljana airport rose 7.7% to 1,812,411.
In September 2014, Fraport signed a deal to acquire a stake of 75.5% in the company that operated Ljubljana airport and later increased its shareholding interest to 100%.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, the German company also operates the airports in the Bulgarian Black Sea cities of Varna and Burgas.
