LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), August 13 (SeeNews) – Passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport increased 3.6% year-on-year to 1,067,005 in the first seven months of 2019, Germany’s Fraport Group, which operates the airport in Slovenia's capital, said on Tuesday.
Aircraft takeoffs and landings at Ljubljana airport fell 2.6% on the year to 19,992 in the January-July period, while cargo traffic fell 5.2% to 6,737 tonnes, Fraport said in a data release.
In July alone, passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport increased by 4.2% to 207,292, aircraft movements decreased by 7.3% to 3,311, while cargo transport fell 3.9% to 1,012 tonnes.
In 2018, passenger numbers at Ljubljana airport rose 7.7% to 1,812,411.
In September 2014, Fraport signed a deal to acquire a stake of 75.5% in the company that operated Ljubljana airport and later increased its shareholding interest to 100%. Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, the German company also operates the airports in the Bulgarian Black Sea cities of Varna and Burgas.
