LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), May 14 (SeeNews) – Passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport has increased 2.8% year-on-year to 500,628 in the first four months of 2019, Germany’s Fraport Group, which operates the airport in Slovenia's capital, said on Tuesday.
Aircraft takeoffs and landings at Ljubljana airport edged down 0.5% on the year to 10,404 in January-April, while cargo traffic fell 4.2% to 3,839 tonnes, Fraport said in a data release.
In April alone, passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport edged up 0.1% to 157,992, aircraft movements decreased 11.0% to 2,799, while cargo transport fell 4.6% to 928 tonnes.
In 2018, passenger numbers at Ljubljana airport rose 7.7% to 1,812,411.
In September 2014, Fraport signed a deal to acquire a stake of 75.5% in the company that operated Ljubljana airport and later increased its shareholding interest to 100%.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, the German company also operates the airports in the Bulgarian Black Sea cities of Varna and Burgas.
