LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), May 28 (SeeNews) – Passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport decreased 62% year-on-year to 191,895 in the first four months of 2020, Germany’s Fraport Group, which operates the airport in Slovenia's capital, said.
Aircraft takeoffs and landings at Ljubljana airport fell 52% to 4,967 in the January-April period, while cargo traffic decreased by 12% to 3,392 tonnes, according to figures from Fraport's website.
In April alone, when the ongoing coronavirus outbreak had left airports in Europe and Slovenia closed for civil flights, passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport plunged 99.8% to 244, aircraft movements decreased 80% to 557, while cargo transport rose 13% to 1,049 tonnes.
In 2019, passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport fell 5.0% year-on-year to 1,721,355.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, Fraport Group also operates the airports in the Bulgarian Black Sea cities of Varna and Burgas.
