LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), July 12 (SeeNews) – Passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport increased 3.4% year-on-year to 859,557 in the first half of 2019, Germany’s Fraport Group, which operates the airport in Slovenia's capital, said on Friday.
Aircraft takeoffs and landings at Ljubljana airport fell 1.6% on the year to 16,679 in the January-June period, while cargo traffic fell 5.4% to 5,726 tonnes, Fraport said in a data release.
In June alone, passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport increased by 6.7% to 188,622, aircraft movements rose 3.3% to 3,372, while cargo transport fell 10.0% to 917 tonnes.
In 2018, passenger numbers at Ljubljana airport rose 7.7% to 1,812,411.
In September 2014, Fraport signed a deal to acquire a stake of 75.5% in the company that operated Ljubljana airport and later increased its shareholding interest to 100%.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, the German company also operates the airports in the Bulgarian Black Sea cities of Varna and Burgas.
